Siobhan Liddell: Been and Gone

Siobhan Liddell’s work delves into moments from the most mundane to the monumental. Referencing buildings, landscapes, gardens and bedrooms to create a journey through the multilayered nature of being alive; the subtlety, complexity and intensity of loving, longing and losing. Both melancholy and playfulness are woven through the works, that are both painterly and sculptural.

A contemporary take on a classic storybook typeface, Martina Plantijn, is used throughout. Its open forms and characterful letters embody the idea of a world where things aren’t quite what they seem.

A loose jacket of printed book cloth wraps the book, creating a textured layer that a reader can explore. It runs the title across several panels and has the list of work printed on the reverse. The flaps cover over the first and last images, pushing the reader to investigate the book as an object to reveal hidden aspects.

The tall format is taken from the largest artwork dimensions, scaled to fit economically onto a printed sheet.
