Hilary Lloyd: è ora di alzarsi

è ora di alzarsi is a poster to advertise the XXVII CSAV Artists’ Research Laboratory in Como, Italy. The workshop is an experimental platform designed to provoke formal and informal discussions and exchanges among artists of different generations and nationalities, and this year led by artist Hilary Lloyd.

The title translates to roughly read as ‘rise and shine’ – a gentle awakening – which is juxtaposed against overlayed swirling, tumultuous, block-work reminiscent of the lake water, and a bold photo of a figure in sports socks standing within it to create a cinematic scenario. A nod to historic Italian film posters.

The typeface Forma is used throughout. A sans-serif typeface designed in 1968 by Italian type designer Aldo Novarese that takes the neutral international style and gives it a sense of flare through tapered linework that reveals itself at larger text sizes.
